Condition & Notes

The iCube Multimedia Super Woofer Speaker System, as it’s referred to on the box, is a three-piece speaker system produced by a company called Ice Technology. The box lists a copyright date of 1999. The product comprises a large bass unit with subwoofer and audio controls that connects to two satellite speakers that each have a tweeter and midrange driver. The speaker enclosures are made of translucent ice-white and blue plastic, clearly intended to match the “Blueberry” Apple iMac G3s produced between 1999 and 2000.

As of mid-2025 there is very little information available on the Internet about this product, but the Internet Archive does have a capture from Ice Technology’s website in 2001 where the iCube is listed as their only product. In all likelihood these speakers are based on a generic model made by an OEM in China, which Ice Techology chose to produce using translucent plastic and their own branding.

This system was in NOS (new-old-stock) condition when I received it, and had never been used. It’s complete with the original box, packaging, and audio cables.

The satellite speakers can be pivoted to aim the tweeter and midrange drivers in different directions.

The rear of the satellite speakers is totally transparent so you can see the drivers and wiring inside.

The color matches the G3 B&W tower perfectly, but the iMac is a Bondi Blue model so it’s close but not perfect. They do compliment the industrial design of both machines very nicely, and they sound pretty decent, too.
