Condition & Notes

This unit is in excellent condition, and is complete with the original box, packaging, cloth bag, power adapter, power cable, software CD, and documentation.

This is the original Apple Cinema Display. It was introduced at Seybold 1999 alongside the new Power Mac G4 as its ‘ultimate companion’. It was hailed as the largest flat-panel LCD computer display ever brought to market - almost all computer displays were still CRT-based at the time. Its innovative design and cutting-edge technology were reflected in the price, which at launch was a whopping $3,999. This was reduced to $2,999 for the later ADC model introduced in 2000.

 Packaging

The display is hugged in this unique circular styrofoam packaging.

The bottom foam piece has soft foam which the display panel rests against.

The original shipping bag, which is made of a soft cloth (not foam or plastic).

The display is protected in a cloth shipping bag.

Easter egg: the bottom foam piece also has this Apple logo imprinted on its back.

The back has a cutout for the protruding acrylic stand and cable.

Display

On the bottom-right of the display, there are physical buttons for power and brightness.

The end of the single cable passes through a security loop before splitting into DVI, USB, and DC power (there is a separate power supply).

Accessory Kit

The Accessory Kit for the original Apple Cinema Display.

The rest of the materials were provided in this lower level, including the AC cable and power adapter.

The 62W power adapter for the display, which looks very similar to the ‘UFO’-style power supplies for the G3 and early G4 portables.

Documentation packet, software CD, power cable, and power adapter.

The documentation packet rests on top of a cardboard separator.

The round power adapter shipped in this unique sandwiched styrofoam cradle, which is held together with little foam pegs.

One side (shown here) contains the 3-pin DC connector that the display cable plugs into; the other side has a standard mains power socket.

User’s Guide, warranty and AppleCare info, ESD warning sheet, and software CD.

With Power Mac G4 (Graphite)

The ultimate Mac setup for 1999. The display still looks gorgeous!

Trivia: the original Cinema Display has a green power LED, whereas the later ADC version has a white one.
